Franklin & Whitman Dry Shampoo

Franklin & Whitman Dry Shampoo

Today I want to talk to you about dry shampoo. In specific, the Franklin & Whitman dry shampoo. Like many of us, I am completely and hopelessly hooked on dry shampoo. It gives my hair more volume and texture. It helps me go longer between washes. And it helps keep my hair looking and feeling fresh.

While there are lots of cruelty-free dry shampoo options out there, it can be tough to find one that’s natural, does not come in an aerosol can, and actually works. I’ve tried just about every cruelty-free dry shampoo that I can get my hands on. From the ones carried at Sephora and Ulta to Lush to the ones made by teeny tiny brands. I’ve tried the good, the bad, and well, the ugly.

I get asked a lot about the Franklin & Whitman dry shampoo, so I wanted to take a few minutes to share my thoughts and my experience with you.  It claims to leave hair looking clean, refresh the smell, absorb oil, and add volume. How well does it do all of those things? What’s the best way to apply it? Read on to hear my thoughts and my experience.

Is Franklin & Whitman Cruelty-Free? Yes! Franklin & Whitman is cruelty-free!

Franklin & Whitman is a Logical Harmony Approved cruelty-free brand. They do not test on animals at any point, use ingredients that have been tested on animals, or hire any 3rd parties to test on animals on their behalf.

Are all Franklin & Whitman  products vegan? Yes!

Not only is Franklin & Whitman cruelty-free, but they are also a fully vegan brand. This means none of their products contain animal or animal derived ingredients.

What makes the Franklin & Whitman dry shampoo unique?

This dry shampoo comes in a powder form that you shake onto your scalp or into your hands to apply it to your roots. I love the shaker container because you can really control how much, or how little, product you apply.

The Franklin & Whitman dry shampoo comes in two different scents. There’s Spring Garden which is a mix of grapefruit, rosemary, and eucalyptus. There’s also East Falls which is a mix of lemongrass, bergamot, and clary sage. The scents are made of an essential oil blend.

Each scent has two shades – one for light hair and one for dark hair. The ingredients vary slightly from the light hair and dark hark formula.

Tips for using the Franklin & Whitman dry shampoo

At first, the powder formula can be a bit tricky to use. Especially if you are used to traditional aerosol dry shampoo sprays. There is a bit of a learning curve, but once you get through it this is a truly great dry shampoo. It’s easy to accidentally apply too much at first, so I would suggest starting with a small amount in your palm and applying it to your scalp with your fingers or a brush. Don’t apply it directly to your scalp until you have a better idea of how much you need as a little bit of this cruelty-free dry shampoo goes a long way.

Once you’ve applied the dry shampoo, start working it into your hair right away. You don’t need to let it sit on your hair for a while. Working it into your hair quickly will reduce any risk you run of having a white cast left in your hair. If you do have one, keep working the dry shampoo into your hair. It means that you haven’t distributed it well enough or that you applied too much. So keep at it!

Once it’s worked into your hair, it may feel a bit gritty. This is when you need to shake it and brush it out. I like to shake the majority of this dry shampoo out with my fingers because it helps preserve volume better. But if you’re new to this dry shampoo, a brush is your best bet. Especially if you applied too much product.
