The Ultimate Cruelty-Free Deodorant Guide

The Ultimate Cruelty-Free Deodorant Guide

A lot of people struggle to find cruelty-free deodorant. I often see the same handful of cruelty-free deodorant suggestions over and over again, but there are actually a surprising amount of cruelty-free deodorant options out there. From a classic stick deodorant formula, pots of deodorant cream, deodorant wipes, spray deodorant and everything in between there are lots and lots of options. In this post, I break down the cruelty-free brands that offer different kinds of cruelty-free deodorant.

It can be hard to navigate which deodorants are cruelty-free. Hopefully, this guide will help you find the best cruelty-free deodorant for you!

The following brands are all cruelty-free and offer cruelty-free deodorant. While they are cruelty-free, some of these brands do offer deodorant or other products that are not vegan, so be sure to read ingredients before purchasing. Brands that are 100% vegan are noted.

Cruelty-Free Deodorant Sticks:

These are cruelty-free versions of the classic deodorant stick. Most cruelty-free deodorant sticks are solids, but some can be a bit creamy at higher temperatures depending on the ingredients used.

Cruelty-Free Deodorant Creams:

These deodorant creams usually come in small pots and can be applied with your fingers or a small spatula.

Cruelty-Free Deodorant Roll-Ons:

Finding cruelty-free deodorant in a roll-on form is a bit less common, but there are still some options out there.

Cruelty-Free Deodorant Sprays:

If you’ve always been a fan of deodorant sprays, there are some options you may enjoy:

Cruelty-Free Deodorant Bars:

This less traditional form of deodorant is great for traveling.

Cruelty-Free Deodorant Towelettes & Cruelty-Free Deodorant Wipes:

Cruelty-free deodorant wipes are great to keep in your gym bag, tote, or purse for refreshing throughout the day.

Cruelty-Free Deodorant Crystals:

These are solid crystals that you get wet before application.

Cruelty-Free Deodorant Powders:

Powder deodorants are a preference for some because they are very easy to travel with and can be helpful in humid climates.

Cruelty-Free Deodorant Primers:

This is a relatively new product, and it claims to help how effective your deodorant is and help prevent skin irritation.

Cruelty-Free Antiperspirants:

A lot of people want not just a cruelty-free deodorant, but also a cruelty-free antiperspirant. These are definitely harder to come by, but there are still a few options out there for you.

There are probably more cruelty-free deodorant brands out there that I may have missed. Please leave a comment and let me know if you see a cruelty-free brand missing from this list!

What is your favorite cruelty-free deodorant? What kind of formula do you prefer? What brands and formulas have worked best for you?

  1. Hello,
It’s not Logical harmony approved yet, however there’s this brand Love, Beauty, and Planet at Target.
They claim to be plant based, vegan, no aluminum, and other things.
I’ve been using the murumuru butter and rose. It’s a really good one I think, just have to reapply through the day.

Again, it’s no where on the site. I do believe it’s a newer brand.

    1. Unfortunately, they have told myself and others that they do test on animals when required by law. Because of this, I don’t consider them to be cruelty-free and they have been on the Brands to Avoid list for some time.

  2. I had recently tried schmitds and it irritated my armpits. I just saw at walgreens crystal has a new invisible solid bar, and so far no irritation. I am hoping it really works for me!

  3. Toms of Maine has a new antiperspirant stick and I absolutely LOVE it!! I’ve tried many natural deodorants but this is my favorite because it helps with how much you sweat!

  4. I swore by primal pit paste, but then got a baking soda allergy. I am now using meow meow tweet baking soda free paste, but still get irritated. I will have to check into the primer!

  5. i started geting irritation after using an expensive stick for a couple of years, and someone recommended ‘crystal essence’ roll-on in vanilla jasmine scent as a great cruelty-free option that works for them. i have found it at walgreen’s and on amazon. i’ve tried that scent and their ‘lavender and white tea scent. They really work! that epensive stick wirked so-so but these give me superior odor control and they are inexpensive and easy to find. i love the wipes too. i’ll use one at night, just to freshen up, esoecially in the summer. i don’t usually even need to, but it feels so good and cooling before bed. i don’t even re-apply the roll-on after that, and in the morning, no stink! i hope these keep working for me! they are the ones listed above as ‘crystal.’ i haven’t tried the stick, so i don’t know how that works, but the scented roll-ons and wipes wirk great for me.
