The new Youth to the People Mandelic Acid + Superfood Unity Exfoliant contains AHA, BHA, and PHA to exfoliate.
I love a good chemical exfoliant so when I was sent the brand new Youth to the People Mandelic Acid + Superfood Unity Exfoliant, I knew that I had to share the news with you. Youth to the People is one of the many cruelty-free brands at Sephora and cruelty-free brands at Cult Beauty. This exfoliant contains AHA, BHA, and PHA’s to target a variety of skincare concerns. You can learn more about these acids and more about the Unity Exfoliant in this post.

What is the Youth to the People Mandelic Acid + Superfood Unity Exfoliant?
I know a lot of people are familiar with the idea of acid exfoliants, but it’s new to many too.
This leave-on liquid exfoliant unites three gentle acids with superfood antioxidants (kale, licorice root, and green tea) to clear pores, smooth texture, even tone, and support skin’s protective barrier. It’s all of the acids, none of the irritation.
Youth to the People
The active ingredients in the Youth to the People Mandelic Acid + Superfood Unity Exfoliant are mandelic acid, salycylic acid, and gluconolactone. This combination is powerful and should only be used 1-2 times a week if you are new to chemical exfoliants.
- 3% Mandelic Acid (AHA): Gently lifts dull surface skin cells to smooth texture and reduce the look of hyperpigmentation.
- 2% Salicyclic Acid (BHA): Unclogs and visibly minimizes the look of pores, dissolving buildup and excess oils deep within pores and skin’s surface layers.
- 1% Gluconolactone (PHA): Boosts cell turnover and hydration to help strengthen skin’s moisture barrier.
- Licorice Root: An antioxidant-rich superfood containing glycyrrhizic acid, which helps to soothe skin and reduce excess sebum production.
- Glucosamine: Ann amino-acid compound that helps hydrates and visibly fade the look of dark spots.
You also want to be sure to use a good cruelty-free sunscreen of at least SPF 30. You should be wearing this daily anyway, but chemical exfoliants can make your skin sensitive to the sun which makes this skincare step extra important. Two of my favorites are Kinship Self Reflect Probiotic Moisturizing Sunscreen Zinc Oxide SPF 32 and the ELF Holy Hydration Face Cream SPF 30.
Once Youth to the People sent me the Unity Exfoliant, I started to use it immediately. At this point it’s only been a few days so I don’t have much to share in the way of results. AHA, BHA, and PHA ingredients take several weeks of use to show results. That said, I can say that it has not irritated my dry skin or made it more dry. A lot of similar products immediately do. I also feel like my skin does feel more moisturized since I started using it, but time will tell. So I’m pleasantly surprised so far and plan to continue to use it to see how it impacts my skin.
