I have no problem letting you all know that I am a bit of a lip balm junkie. When I recently talked about my vegan beauty favorites, when it came time to share my favorite lip product I knew that sharing a lip balm was the way to go. That’s how essential I consider them to my beauty routine. When Pure + Simple sent me a couple of tubes to try out, I was really curious about their formula. Pure + Simple currently only makes lip balm. They offer five yummy sounding vegan scents. One of the ones that I got to try was the Pure + Simple Vegan Lip Balm in Lavender + Spruce.
Claims: “Our balm contains familiar natural and organic ingredients and is effective -not just good enough for a natural lip balm. We use the least amount of ingredients so that our product is pure and effective because we believe that less and simple yield so much more.”

More details from Pure + Simple, “Lavender + Spruce is a combination of the camphorous aroma of lavender with the sweet, woody aroma of spruce. Lavender has been thought to promote deep tranquility and balance and help to aid in restful sleep while spruce further promotes calm and balance, soothes nerves and helps promote deep meditation.“
Ingredients: Organic cold-pressed extra virgin coconut oil (cocos nucifera), pure natural African shea butter (butyrospermum parkii), pure natural candelilla wax (euphorbia cerifera/euphorbia antisyphilitica), pure steam-distilled or cold-pressed essential oils
Pros: Goes on very smoothly. Absorbs quickly. Very moisturizing. Soothing and calming scent. Preservative free. Cruelty free brand. Vegan formula.
Cons: If you are looking for a matte lip balm, this may not be the right balm for you.
The Verdict: I have been using and really enjoying the Pure + Simple Vegan Lip Balm in Lavender + Spruce. The formula of this lip balm is very smooth. Because it’s preservative free, I store mine in a drawer of my vanity to keep it out of the heat and sun. Even though it’s base is coconut oil, this balm also isn’t too liquid-like and doesn’t melt when it’s warm out. This is always a plus for me because I like to be able to take lip balms in my purse without worrying about them melting and leaking. I like that it goes on glossy because it helps me keep my beauty routine simpler. The Lavender + Spruce scent is really unique! I’ve never used a scent quite like it in a lip balm before and I find it to be an incredibly relaxing and soothing scent.
I have a lot of lip balms but am actually pretty picky about the ones that I reach for over and over again. I want them to be really effective and a formula that I enjoy. I have found that Pure + Simple is now in my regular rotation and one of my favorite vegan lip balms!
