When I placed my first order for some Velour Liquid Lipstick shades, I also picked up the Jeffree Star Velour Lip Scrub in Strawberry Gum. Because they can be drying, a good lip scrub is an essential if you plan on wearing liquid lipsticks. Trying one from Jeffree’s own line seemed like the best thing to try with his liquid lipsticks.
Claims: “Use our delicious sugar based lip scrub to prep your lips before applying any liquid lipstick. Take a scoop out and rub your mouth in circular motions. Lick away excess (yes, it’s edible!) or wipe off with a tissue.”
Ingredients: Glycerin, Vegetable, Sucrose, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Oil, Flavor (Strawberry), Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Vitis Vinifera (Grape Seed) Oil, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Red 40 (CI 16035)
Pros: Worked well to exfoliate. Moisturizing formula. Smells like strawberry bubble gum. Cruelty-free and vegan brand.
Cons: The scent made me crave candy.
The Verdict: The Jeffree Star Velour Lip Scrub in Strawberry Gum is easily one of the best lip scrubs that I have used. I have tried many, and even made my own, but this one is unique. The scent reminds me of classic strawberry bubblegum, and it’s completely delicious. The formula even tastes slightly like it (of course I tried it!).
The Jeffree Star Velour Lip Scrub is very effective at sloughing away dead skin cells, but also left my lips feeling really moisturized. They felt smooth and soft for hours after using the scrub too. Even without applying a lip balm. I noticed that the velour liquid lipsticks applied very smoothly and evenly after using the Jeffree Star Velour Lip Scrub. I am going to continue to use this scrub and will likely purchase other scents in the future.
