100% Pure Caffeine Mask Review

Until recently, I had never tried a sheet mask before. While they are definitely a skin care trend right now, most of the brands that make them aren’t cruelty-free. 100% Pure sent me a package recently and in it was a package of the 100% Pure Caffeine Mask.100% Pure makes several sheet masks and some of them are also vegan. I love clay masks and was curious to see how these sheet masks would differ both in experience and in results.

Claims: “Caffeine effectively restores sun damaged skin, is anti-inflammatory, stimulates circulation, and soothes redness. The mask material ‘hydrogel’ is composed from 95% organic aloe water and 5% plant cellulose made to intensely hydrate.The longer you leave the mask on your skin, the thinner the hydrogel mask becomes because the water gets absorbed. The hydrogel assists in delivering active ingredients onto your skin.”

Ingredients: Aloe Barbadensis (Organic Aloe Juice)*, Coffea Arabica (Green Coffee) Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate (Hyaluronic Acid), Arbutin Extract (from Bearberry), Camellia Sinensis (Organic Green Tea) Extract*, Fucus Vesiculosus (Seaweed) Collagen, Sodium Ascorbate (Vitamin C), Ilex Paraguariensis (Yerba Mate) Extract, Plant Cellulose, Glycerin * Certified Organic

Directions for use: “On a freshly cleansed face, gently place the mask comfortably on the skin ensuring that the slits are over your eyes, nose, and mouth. Relax and leave on for 15–20 minutes. The longer you leave the mask the better the effects. You do not have to rinse your face after using the mask as the residue acts like a serum. Remove the mask and discard. Each mask is a one time use for sanitation purposes. Use 1–3 times a week.“

Pros: Left my skin feeling softer and looking visibly more balanced and smoother. Cruelty free brand. Vegan formula.

Cons: This isn’t exactly a con but, like any sheet mask, using it takes a bit of getting used to.

The Verdict: The 100% Pure Caffeine Mask was a fun and unique experience! The gel sheet masks take a bit of getting used to when you first use them but are a nice way to pamper yourself. Especially if you add in some candles and nice music to create a really relaxing experience out of it. This mask was not only a gel mask but had been soaking in a serum as well. At first, it did feel a little bit slimy but the serum absorbed into my skin pretty quickly. Getting the mask adjusted was a bit difficult because the eye holes are very small, so it takes feeling around to be sure it’s covering your face correctly. But once you get the mask in place, it’s a nice experience.

The directions said to leave the mask on for 15-20 minutes, but that you can leave it on longer if you like. I left the mask on for about 25-30 minutes. I then massaged any leftover serum into my skin. The mask had definitely gotten a lot thinner during wear. I noticed that my skin looked more balanced and smoother right away. It also felt really soft. I can see how, with regular use, you could see more benefits.According to reviews on the site, some people save the100% Pure Caffeine Mask and re-use the same mask more than once. I wouldn’t recommend this and instead would suggest just wearing it for longer each time you use one. I really liked this mask and love having it added into my skin care routine. It’s a fun change from regular clay masks!
