Vegan Cleaning Products Guide

Vegan Cleaning Products Guide

Many Logical Harmony readers ask for help finding household cleaing products that are both cruelty free and vegan. Sadly, many of the commonly found cleaning products are tested on animals. Because of this, many people assume that it is hard to find cruelty free and vegan cleaning products, but it is actually a lot easier than you may expect.

That’s why I decided to create the Vegan Cleaning Products Guide. This guide includes brands that offer cruelty free and vegan household cleaning items. This includes multi-purpose soap, dish soap, laundry soap, glass cleaners, all-purpose cleaners, and more.

Continue reading to see the options available in the Vegan Cleaning Products Guide!

The following brands are all cruelty free and have vegan cleaning product options. Some of these brands offer foundations that are not vegan, so be sure to read ingredients before purchasing. Brands that are 100% vegan are noted.

This means that there is no animal testing anywhere in their supply chain, during production, or on the finished products. It also means that they make cleaning products that are free of animal ingredients. The brands included on this list do not have a parent company who tests on animals. None of the money used to purchase cleaning products from these brands will go to fund any animal testing in any way.

  • 365 Everyday Value
  • Biokleen – 100% vegan!
  • Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soaps
  • Seventh Generation – It should be noted that they are cruelty free, but their parent company is not.

hi tashina, what type of ingredients would make a soap or cleaner cruelty free but not vegan? thanks for all the information on your site, it makes life easier

Another market to add to this list is Sprouts. They’re like a mini Whole Foods but sell a lot of the same products for a cheaper price. They have locations in California only so far, but hopefully the will have more stores in other US states.

What about Mrs. Meyers? I thought they were cruelty free? Possibly vegan?

      Hi Yesenia!

Mrs. Meyers is cruelty free, but they are owned by a brand who tests on animals. 🙁 I have decided to not add brands with parent companies who tests to these lists because there are so many cruelty free brands who aren’t owned by a company who tests. Logical Harmony would rather support those brands. 🙂

Do you happen to know if Seventh Generation only recently got their Leaping Bunny certification? I was really weirded out at the store recently when I looked at multiple products of theirs–some had the Leaping Bunny symbol and some didn’t.

    Btw, I absolutely LOVE Biokleen!

I don’t believe it is recent. It’s not uncommon for symbols to not appear on packaging though, so I wouldn’t let it worry you. 🙂

I would definitely love to see this list become more expanded – maybe after some time. Currently I’m trying to find vegan equivalents for Febreeze spray, Jet Dry and Vacuum rug cleaning powder.

Yes! I am hoping that it can expand too. If there are any brands you are curious about, please let me know. 🙂

I believe I found that Method has air fresheners as well. I’m going to buy some tomorrow. 😀

I’ve been using Method products for a while now, would absolutely recommend them to anyone! I love that I can buy anything I want from the line and know that I’m getting a cruelty-free and vegan product 🙂

I’m a Method junkie! I prefer to not worry about label reading, so I always default to Method since it’s 100% vegan. Which Dr. Bronner’s soaps aren’t vegan?

For some reason, I’d always been under the impression that Seventh Generation was owned by a parent company that isn’t cruelty-free. Glad to see that isn’t the case!

    • Reply Tashina Combs Sunday - March 22, 2015 at 3:08 pm

The Dr. Bronner’s soaps are vegan, but they have other products that contain animal ingredients. I didn’t want to mislead people who may buy other items thinking the brand is a vegan brand 🙂 Seventh Generation is another great options!

Where can you purchase these cleaning products??

        • Reply Tashina Combs Sunday - October 4, 2015 at 5:36 pm

Most of them are available all over! Aside from the Whole Foods house brand, all others are available from many small and mass retailers as well as many online stores. Target, Trader Joe’s, Amazon, Vitacost… They are available in lots of places! It’s awesome!

I use Method and Seventh Gen all the time, love them! I started using them when I got my apartment in college and I don’t think I’ll stop anytime soon 🙂
