ELF Need It Nude Eyeshadow Palette Review

Posted on Monday - July 20, 2015 by Tashina Combs & Last updated on Friday - August 26, 2016 23 Comments

ELF Need It Nude Eyeshadow Palette Review

Recently ELF launched a lot of new products. Among four new eyeshadow palettes was the ELF Need It Nude Eyeshadow Palette. This palette caught the eye of many because it is speculated to include potential dupes for some of the shades in various Urban Decay Naked palettes. I love a good neutral shadow palette and wanted to see what this collection was like, so I ordered it to try out.

Claims: “Achieve both beautifully natural eye looks with these perfectly curated 10 neutral eyeshadow shades. This collection of hues is ideal for shading, highlighting, and defining the eyes. These silky-smooth shadows can be used as a liner, on the lid, and in the crease of the eye for an expertly contoured and blended look.”

Continue reading the ELF Need It Nude Eyeshadow Palette Review!

More details from ELF: “Apply dry all over the eyelid with your favorite e.l.f.brush for a subtle wash of color, or apply wet for a vibrant effect. Choose a light color to apply all over the eyelid as a base or to highlight. Next, apply a medium shade over the eyelid or in the crease to contour. Then, apply the darkest shade to define and line the eye for depth and a smoky look. Mix and match for a custom look that’s perfect for any occasion!“

Ingredients: Ingredients: Talc, Mica, Magnesium Stearate, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Boron Nitride, Silica, Dimethicone, Tridecyl Trimellitate, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol May Contain: Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Manganese Violet (CI 77742), Red 40 Lake (CI 16035)

Pros: Variety of shades are included. Mix of matte and shimmery shades. Nice quality packaging. Cruelty free brand. Vegan formula.

Cons: Some of the shades lack pigment and staying power, even with a primer.

The Verdict: The ELF Need It Nude Eyeshadow Palette is a great palette of neutrals for the price. For only $10,  you get 10 shadow shades. I love that it has a mix of nude and shimmery shades. The shades included are pretty standard neutrals. I had heard rumors that this palette contained dupes for some of the more popular Urban Decay shades, but I do not believe that to be so. The shimmery shades apply really smoothly, have a lot of pigment, and do a great job of sticking around. The matte shades go on pretty, but most of them faded quickly and did not wear very well. The palette itself is a sleek new design that I really liked. It comes with a large mirror and feels very sturdy.

I think that this is a good neutral palette for the price and a great palette to take when traveling and you have limited space. Have you tried this palette? What were your thoughts?

It looks amazing, but as I already have so much neutral eyeshadows, also shimmery ones I will not buy this until I run out. Basically, E.L.F.’s products are a hit or miss with me (and I think with most people). Saw some negative reviews and wanted to clear that up, not crazy about their eye products, f.e. I can’t reccomend their eyeliner. Also their lipstain ‘markers’ are too sheer for me. However, I do love their baked blushes, bronzers and eyeshadows, they have a great staying power and look great. Other than that I like their primer and brushes, as well as their eyebrow kit’s but I can only recommend those if you have enough eyebrow to begin with.
So, I’d say, do some research and you’ll end up with great vegan affordable makeup!

After I learned ELF was vegan I ran out and bought a ton of it. Sadly, I didn’t first check to see what the country of origin is. When I saw they were made in China, where there is absolutely no oversite checking on the purity, or quality of the product, my heart sank.
Sure enough, I tried their eye liner only once, and then it was empty. Their mascara had little, or no mascara in it. I threw those two away, and haven’t even opened up the other items. I don’t trust anything made in China, and no one, obviously, had bothered to check to even see if the product was useable. I don’t recommend ELF to anyone. I feel cheated.

      Hi Nancy,

That’s unfortunate to hear. Did you contact their customer service team about these issues?

It’s so nice to see all the great things ELF has been releasing lately. Definitely some fun goods in this mix. Too bad there are no dupes though… that would make for a great buy.

I love ELF products, but their eyeshadows are hit or miss with me. I have better luck with the singles than the palettes, but they do have some beautiful colors!

ELF is always hit or miss, but I think for the price I’d definitely try this out! I love neutrals, and the shimmery shades in this palette are calling me! 😉

I find it hard to resist neutral palette releases, too, but so far I managed to skip a lot of popular ones that popped up in the past year or so, because they’d just be sitting around unused. It reeeeally pains me to do so though.

I’d love to see swatches so I could tell just how shimmery some of these are. It looks really nice in the palette.

ELF really has great quality shadows. I bought the Mad For Matte palette and love it! Having hooded eyes, matte shadow is the best for me. However I do wear ELF’s shimmer shadows as well because they’re not as crazy with shimmer as I’ve found with other brands, just right. I have 3 of the Prism palettes, they’re so buttery and beautiful! I just might have to buy the Need It Nude palette, it sounds beautiful.

What a bummer about the lack of dupes. I find that most drugstore items just don’t compare to UD, their quality is incredible!
