Cover FX Clear Cover Invisible Sunscreen Review
I have had a really hard time finding a daily sunscreen that works with my makeup, not against it. Judging by the emails I have received from readers, a lot of you do too. I personally don’t think that we should have to compromise the wear of our makeup by protecting our skin from the sun. Yet time and time again, facial sunscreens let me down by somehow dissolving through my foundation, concealer, and everything else on my face.
Recently Cover FX send me the Cover FX Clear Cover Invisible Sunscreen to try out. I have had great luck with other Cover FX products but was skeptical of this one given my history with face sunscreens. I put it to the test and wore it under different types of makeup for a couple of weeks to see if it really works.
Claims: “Clear Cover Invisible Sunscreen Broad-Spectrum SPF 30 is a totally transparent sunscreen that moisturizes, brightens, nourishes, and protects all in one ultra-lightweight formula. Ideal for all skin types—and all skin tones—Clear Cover Invisible Sunscreen Broad-Spectrum SPF 30 glides on completely clear, preventing any white residue or pinkish cast. The weightless, gel-like texture melts into skin seamlessly and creates a smooth, non-greasy finish perfect for applying makeup.”
Ingredients: Avobenzone 3.0%, Homosalate 10.0%, Octisalate 5.0%, Octocrylene 2.6%. Isododecane, Dimethicone/Bis-Isobutyl PPG-20 Crosspolymer, Butyloctyl Salicylate, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Caprylyl Methicone, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Silica, Tocopheryl Acetate, Squalane, Dimethyl Isosorbide, Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Extract, Solanum Lycopersicum (Tomato) Fruit Extract, Tocopherol.
Directions for use: “Apply to clean face every morning for invisible sun protection. Apply liberally 15 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply every two hours when exposed to the sun. For reapplication, rub a small amount between both palms and gently press onto face.“
Pros: Created an even base for my makeup to apply well. Creme, liquid and powder products stayed in place all day. Protected my skin on days with longer sun exposure. Cruelty-free brand. Vegan formula.
Cons: None.
The Verdict: The Cover FX Clear Cover Invisible Sunscreen completely shocked me with it’s performance. I suppose that I shouldn’t be shocked, given that my previous experiences with Cover FX products have all been positive. This stuff really does work!
I applied it after my moisturizer and tried using it both as a primer and layered underneath a primer. I wore this casually and on days when I knew I would be out in the sun for longer periods of time. In all cases, my makeup applied evenly and smoothly and actually stayed put. There was no makeup meltdown like I normally have with sunscreens. In fact, I think that the Cover FX Clear Cover Invisible Sunscreen actually helped my makeup stay in place longer and better.
If you have been looking for a good facial sunscreen, definitely check out the Cover FX Clear Cover Invisible Sunscreen. I think it’s a great product. I will continue to use it and plan to purchase it once this bottle runs out.

I was just looking into this! Perfect timing for the review. I wanted something a bit lighter (I recently purchased the Hempz facial SPF; it’s nice but very rich in texture). Did you find this to be drying at all?
Thanks!!
It’s not at all drying. I really like the formula because it seems to just absorb right into my skin instead of sitting on top of it.
I’m always on the hunt for sunscreen!
