Being aware of the cruelty-free brands at Ulta can be a challenge simply because they carry so many brands. In an effort to make things easier for consumers, I wanted to create and share this list of cruelty-free brands at Ulta.

When I first switched to using all vegan beauty and household products, I was really surprised at how easy it was to find vegan nail polish. There are a lot of cruelty-free brands that offer a lot of vegan options and there are also a lot of brands that offer vegan nail polish too. A lot of people have seemed really surprised when they learn that all nail polish isn’t vegan.
People know about animal testing and what brands to avoid because of that, but not about animal ingredients that polish can contain. The short story is that a lot of brands test on animals, but a lot of nail polish also contains animal ingredients. Read more about what makes nail polish vegan and learn what these animal ingredients are.
I asked on Twitter if you guys wanted me to share this haul, even though it was filmed a while ago, and everyone said yes! Everything mentioned in this cruelty-free haul is also vegan. I think that these videos can be fun because it’s an easy way for you to let me know what products you want to hear more about or see features on. This video includes a mix of makeup, skin care, hair products, books and more.
The video is located behind the cut, so click the “read more” link to watch it.

One of the most buzzed about cruelty free nail polish removers is Zoya Remove Plus Nail Polish Remover. For years, I have been hearing nothing but great things about this Zoya nail polish remover. Orly was one of the most popular drugstore and salon picks for vegan friendly nail polish. Most stores carry the line and nearly every salon has it hand. The brand is cruelty free and was known for being a completely vegan line. Sadly, that is no longer the case.
On my most recent check-in with Orly the brand confirmed that they are still cruelty free. However, they also let me know that none of their products can be considered vegan.
If you’re looking to avoid animal ingredients and animal derived ingredients, I would suggest avoiding Orly polishes. A lot of people are surprised to hear that nail polish can contain these ingredients. The animal ingredients most commonly found in nail polish comes from insects and fish. Find out more in my post What Makes Nail Polish Vegan to get the details.
Thankfully, Vegan nail polish is easy to find. NCLA, Flower Beauty, Zoya, SpaRitual, a.dorn, LVX, and ELF are just a handful of the brands out there with a completely vegan nail polish line.
