Tatcha Camellia Beauty Oil Review

Tatcha Camellia Beauty Oil Review

I first heard about the Tatcha Camellia Beauty Oil when I saw Jaclyn Hill using it in a video. I have dry skin, and she does as well, so I decided to check it out. For a long time I have been hearing amazing things about Tatcha’s skincare. This multi-use beauty oil can be used for face, hair and body. I loved the mix of ingredients that were used, so I decided to place an order to pick it up.

Claims: “A light and rich beauty oil for face, hair and body. Infused Licorice Root Extract gently calms skin, while young Bamboo and Green Tea fragrances offer transport to a Kyoto countryside. Camellia Oil and Squalane nourish skin and seal in moisture, while 24-karat gold flake gives skin a sensual glow.”

Tatcha Camellia Beauty Oil Review

Ingredients: Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Squalane (Olive Origin), Camellia Japonica Seed Oil, Fragrance (Natural), Polyglyceryl-10 Pentaisostearate, Dimer Dilinoleyl Dimer Dilinoleate, Phytosteryl Macadamiate (Macadamia), Oryza Sativa (Rice) Germ Oil, Water, Tocopherol, Stearyl Glycyrrhetinate (Licorice Extract), Oryzanol (Rice Bran Oil Extract), Inositol (Rice Extract), Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Alcohol, Glycerin, Algae Extract, Gold, Phenoxyethanol

Pros: For all skin types. Long-lasting hydration. Absorbs quickly. Does not feel heavy or greasy. Cruelty free brand. Vegan formula.

Cons: On the high end of the price scale.

The Verdict: The Tatcha Camellia Beauty Oil is, I admit, a luxury item. It has gold flakes in it! Which look amazing, but is also reflected in the price. Because of this, I opted to pick up the more affordable travel size to give the Tatcha Camellia Beauty Oil a try. The first thing I noticed when I used the oil is the scent. It’s very soft, and smells like a mix of lemon and vanilla. The oil feels very rich and smooth, but isn’t greasy or heavy feeling. The Tatcha Camellia Beauty Oil felt so light on my skin and, while it absorbed quickly, my skin felt so soft and supple even 12+ hours later.

I used the Tatcha Camellia Beauty Oil at night and in the morning, before applying my makeup. When using it at night, I felt that I woke up with softer and more radiant skin. After several uses, I felt that my skin tone was appearing more even as well. When using it in the morning, before applying my makeup, I felt that it helped my liquid products apply smoother and did not disrupt the wear.

Overall, I am extremely impressed with the Tatcha Camellia Beauty Oil and am debating purchasing the full size once my travel size runs out. I can definitely see how this beauty oil is worth the money and saw great benefits from it.

  1. After seeing Rhian’s review, I reached out to Tatcha for a list of their vegan products. To my surprise, they would only commit to one of the rice powders as being vegan friendly, further explaining they could not be sure of ingredient sources.

That’s enough to earn a spot on my “no” list.

    1. Hi Danna,

The process to be listed on Logical Harmony requires a great amount of detail and Tatcha happily went above and beyond to provide that. They also went into great detail about their product ingredients, most of which are vegan-friendly. Only a couple of their products do contain royal jelly and/or silk protein, but they are clearly labeled in the ingredients. They are cruelty-free with plenty of vegan-friendly options.

My guess is that their customer service team may not be able to provide the details you were inquiring about or were confused about what qualified as vegan. It’s possible they use shared equipment. I know that, increasingly, brands doing this are hesitant to state “vegan” because not everyone is comfortable with that. As I am unsure what you asked, and am not able to speak on their behalf, I can’t provide much more here other than I trust their brand. 🙂

  2. I need this!! I use the Cleansing oil and rice exfoliant. And I love it!! I have used it since it first came to QVC!! Now I want this oil. I have dry skin in the winter and am having some uneven and dark circles and blemishes. This oil sounds wonderful!!
