Is Tarte cruelty-free? Yes!

Tarte is a cruelty-free brand based on the Logical Harmony criteria for determining if a brand is Logical Harmony approved. There is no animal testing being done on Tarte products at any point or on any ingredients used to make Tarte products.

Tarte is owned by Kose. Kose itself is not cruelty-free. I believe that everyone should decide for themselves how they feel about parent companies. At the end of the day, I would rather people purchase from a cruelty-free brand with a parent company that is not cruelty-free than purchase from a brand who tests on animals themselves. I encourage everyone who supports cruelty-free brands to let Tarte and Kose know that being cruelty-free is important to you.

  1. I don’t k is what ingredient is in tarte creaseless
Concealer, but it stings under my eyes!

  2. Is tarte man-eater mascara vegan?

    1. no it’s not, it has beeswax in it as at June 2021

  3. Is the exposed highlight vegan? I know sparkler and stunner shades both contain carmine, but exposed doesn’t, and I feel like when it released (since exposed was the first) they actually advertised it as vegan too (?, I could be mistaken)

    1. Hi! I haven’t been able to receive confirmation that it is. I remember it being marketed as vegan initially too, but until the brand can confirm I’m not comfortable listing it as vegan.

  4. I don’t trust their interpretation of vegan. The smooth operator pressed powder has lanolin in it. Now I have to go and double check everything I have from them.

    1. Hi Lynette! It actually, and thankfully, does not contain lanolin. Here are the ingredients: Mica, synthetic fluorphlogopite, silica, polymethyl methacrylate, glycerin, kaolin, carrageenan, xanthan gum, 1,2-hexanediol, caprylyl glycol, hexylene glycol, phenoxyethanol, galactoarabinan. I hope this helps to clarify!

      1. I have been buying for some time the sex kitten Tarte . Now I read that it’s made in China !!! How can it be Vegan and made in China ?

        1. Thankfully brands can manufacture in China without testing on animals. It’s only a concern when sold in physical stores there.
