NCLA Mostly Sunny With a Chance of Sprinkles Review

NCLA Mostly Sunny With a Chance of Sprinkles Review

Summer means constant polish changes. I love that any and all shades work in the summer. I can never choose between my staple pastel shades, bright corals and pinks, or bold neons. NCLA sent me their Sweet Revenge collection to review. I’ve already tried and reviewed a few sets of their awesome nail wraps, so I was very excited to try out the new shades in the Sweet Revenge collection!

This shade, Mostly Sunny With a Chance of Sprinkles is a cute light blue with navy blue glitter.

Claims: “Our luxurious NCLA formula is high shine, quick dry and chip reisistant. Flat brush allows for a perfectly smooth application.”

Ingredients: On product packaging, not available online.

Pros: DBP free. Toluene free. Camphor free. Formaldehyde free. The color payoff is great – one coat was as pigmented as the color appears in the bottle.

Cons: The glitter in the polish seams to mess with the formula a bit and it did not go on smoothly.

The Verdict: I’m honestly a little torn on this polish. I love love love the baby blue shade! It’s hands down the cutest pastel blue I have ever found. That says a lot since I’ve been looking for a good light blue polish for some time. The downside is the glitter. Unlike the other NCLA polishes I have used, this shade doesn’t go on easily or smoothly. It goes on a little clumpy and thick. If you are new to NCLA polishes, please don’t judge all of them by the application of this shade! A coat of clear top coat really helps to smooth things out though, so don’t let the initial application trick you.

Overall, I did like this polish. I love the color so much that I am happy to overlook the issues with the formula. I feel like it’s a tradeoff – amazing and hard to find color with a not so great formula. I’d rather have this shade in my collection as it is than be stuck looking for the perfect light blue shade any longer. This really is the light blue shade I’ve been trying to find for years! I do hope that NCLA will look into this and adjust as needed – because it’s a fantastic spring and summer shade!

  1. Actually, I LIKE rubbing my fingertips on rough-ish nails, so with the cute color, I think I already love this thing 😛 Too bad my parents are NOT gonna let me buy this thing 🙁

    1. Hi Jessica!

Honestly, the formula isn’t going to keep me away. I LOVE the shade a lot and while the formula isn’t amazing, it’s not terrible either. If you like the color you should get it anyway! Just buy another shade as well so you can get a better idea of what the formula is usually like. 🙂
