How I Stay Healthy and Stress Less Through the Holidays

When it comes to fall and winter, stress kicks into high gear for a lot of us. Myself included. There’s so much to balance – people to see, travel arrangements to coordinate, a constantly growing to-do list, planning for the holidays, planning to start the new year off right… It can get overwhelming and, well, stressful.

Over the past couple of years I’ve taken time to figure out what works best for me. A lot of conventional methods and popular tips just weren’t enough. For me, keeping stress low helps my immune system a lot. So taking care of myself is especially important because it ensures I stay healthy as well.

In this post, I share my tips for managing stress during the holidays with the help of RESCUE REMEDY, essential oils, and other daily rituals.

For general daily balance, I make sure that I continue to take my custom BACH blend consistently. This alone makes a huge difference for me. If you’re curious to learn more about what’s in my custom blend and how it’s helped me, I have a post all about my experience with it that can be found here. I also try to stay consistent with some other simple habits. A gratitude journal with minimal space for writing has helped. It helps me to focus on something positive, and I don’t feel overwhelmed or pressured by a large amount of blank space to fill up. Taking some time for myself each day also makes a huge difference. Sometimes this means some time reading. Others it’s time spent tidying up and organizing my workspace. Other days it’s a long bath. It can really vary by the day, but all that’s important is getting that time in where I’m not being distracted by anything (this includes my phone) or anyone.

The RESCUE REMEDY products were created to help with daily stress management and are based around five flower essences:

  1. Rock Rose for fearlessness, courage, and presence of mind.
  2. Impatiens for patience and less hastiness in both thought and action.
  3. Clematis for focus and the ability to take a lively interest in your current environment.
  4. Star of Bethlehem for comfort and the ability to be strong.
  5. Cherry Plum for composure, keeping a serene mind, and being able to think and act rationally.

The RESCUE Plus line includes the same five flowers in other RESCUE products, as well as clinically proven Vitamins B5, B12, Magnesium, Zinc, or Melatonin depending on the product in the line.

This time of the year, I feel like there can be so much stress about deadlines and fitting in time with friends and family. It’s a busy time at work for so many of us and combined with wanting to be sure we get in time with those close to us it can sometimes feel like it’s near impossible to work. I’ve been enjoying the RESCUE PLUS berry lozenges because I can just pop one in my mouth and keep working while they take effect. I also find it nice to have something sweet to enjoy too. Taking time for brief breaks can be really helpful too. I try to make them about doing something for myself – having a nice warm cup of tea and taking a few minutes to meditate or do some breathing exercises helps a lot. It’s not enough time away to add more stress, but it’s enough to help me feel like I did get a break and had a reset to help me tackle things again.

I’ve talked before about how sleep has been a big struggle of mine for a while. It’s like my to-do list suddenly is all I can think about when I’m trying to fall asleep and then it wakes me up again at 3 AM. This gets worse towards the holidays as I tend to have more on my mind. Making a nighttime routine and sticking with it helps me a lot. I take the time to do my full skincare routine. I also make sure to spray the bed and pillows with some soothing essential oil sprays. My favorites are Sleep Comes Easy from Little Moon Essentials and the OSEA for Parachute Refresh Linen Mist. Both are fresh and soothing, with a mix of lavender and other essential oils – perfect for helping me clear my head and relax. I also love slathering myself in Sleepy Lotion from Lush. It has a reputation for helping people sleep well and it’s no surprise why. It’s such a lovely, calming, and soothing scent of lavender. The RESCUE SLEEP Spray has been really helpful for me. The mix of flower essences help me fall asleep easily, and I sleep through the night.

While traveling or just being on-the-go, it can be a lot harder to make sure that I take proper care of myself. There’s less space to keep things in and I need to be practical about my routine. Because of this, I focus on what I can keep in my purse or a carry-on if I’m flying. I love having an essential oil roll-on with me. Right now, I’m using the Aura Cacia Chill Pill essential oil roll-on. Its blend is very soothing and grounding. The RESCUE REMEDY Stress Spray is also really nice to have. I love that the bright yellow cap makes it really easy to find in the mess than can be my purse. Staying hydrated really helps too, so I try to always make sure I have some tea or my reusable water bottle with me too.

Stress about getting things done and managing schedules with all that’s going on can also be tough. There’s so much to do and somehow it feels like never enough time to do it in. The original  RESCUE REMEDY stress dropper is my favorite to take. I keep some on my desk. The RESCUE REMEDY stress spray is a great option too. It has the same flower essences as the drops do, but the formula is easier to use for some. I also really like using Jax Kelly crystal candles. They are scented and have a crystal in them. You pick which one you’d like to burn based on your mood. No matter how you feel about crystals, there’s something very powerful about the intention of lighting these candles. It’s acknowledging how you’re currently feeling, that you don’t wish to feel that way, and choosing another way to feel. Mentally it’s very powerful.

You can purchase RESCUE REMEDY
products from RESCUE REMEDY or on Amazon. If you’re new to RESCUE Remedy I would suggest trying the original RESCUE REMEDY Stress Dropper first. You can follow RESCUE REMEDY on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.
