Ingredients: Mediterranean Sea Salt, Israeli Dead Sea Salt, Oryza Sativa (Rice Bran) Oil, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Peel, Moroccan Citrus Sinensis (Orange) Peel, Aurantifolia (Lime) Peel Powder, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Extract, Citrus Paradisii (Pink Grapefruit) Oil, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Oil, Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime) Oil, Citrus Sinensis (Orange) Oil, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Beta Vulgris (Beet) Root Powder.

Pros: Very natural and energizing citrus scent. Exfoliates well. Leaves skin soft. No synthetic fragrances used. Paraben free. Sulfate free. Unique blend of ingredients. Cruelty free brand. Vegan formula.

Cons: The citrus oils can be a bit irritating to very dry skin.

The Verdict: When I first opened this scrub, I was immediately impressed by the scent. It smells so good! It’s not overly citrus-scented, but has a very soft and sweet citrus scent. It’s the perfect blend of pink grapefruit, lemon, lime, and orange. There isn’t one that overpowers the others. I really like that it’s made with larger pieces of sea salt. I could feel the salt working to exfoliate as I massaged it into my skin. The avocado and sweet almond oils immediately kicked in to leave my skin feeling super soft.

One time when I used the scrub, I had a very dry spot of skin and the salt and citrus oils did irritate it. That said, I should have just avoided that area completely since citrus oils can be a bit drying for some. To put it to the test, I used A Girl’s Gotta Spa Energizing Citrus Salt Scrub the night before I planned to self-tan. Exfoliating well before self-tanning can help create a smoother and even tan. My self tanning foam applied evenly and I ended up with one of the smoothest applications and very even color. I feel that this salt scrub was a major factor in that.

Overall, I really enjoyed the A Girl’s Gotta Spa Energizing Citrus Salt Scrub. It worked really well and I couldn’t believe how soft my skin was after using it. I loved the citrus scent. It was so uplifting! If you’re looking for a good salt scrub, this is a great option to try.

  1. I had no idea that citrus oils can be drying to the skin! I’ve had a ton of issues trying to switch to a completely cruelty free moisturizer (keep having to go back to the body shop) and always found that any product with citrus oils made me break out or have some kind of reaction. I have normal to dry skin so this makes a bit more sense now! Thanks!

    1. Hi Keirstyn, citrus oils act like an astringent as they are anti-bacterial. So the essential oils in our scrub are lemon (rich in anti-oxidants), orange (anti-inflammatory), lime (clears oily skin) and grapefruit (brightening.)

In the 3 products we have in our line currently, we balance out the citrus with other moisturizing ingredients (like avocado oil, sweet almond oil and vitamin e in the scrub mentioned.) For our lotion, we have olive oil, shea and cocoa butter to make it super moisturizing. I’m not sure what is in the other products you’ve used, but hopefully you’d find ours to be beneficial to your skin!
